Are You Planning for 2023 Yet?

Thinking ahead to 2023 can seem daunting, particularly if your business is in its growth phase. How can you best prepare? Simple –you need to begin planning.

How to plan for your ERP system? Well, an implementation project that needs to be completed ahead of 2023 should be in the late prep stages already. With foundations being laid, a big part of project preparation involves getting the right team in place.

The logical end result of this fact, combined with the way the market works, means that those requirements should be a top priority right now (if not already locked down). One of the most important questions to ask yourself as a hiring manager is how many specialists suitable for your projects will be available.

From experience I can tell you that we’re about to reach a point in the year where competition for skilled workers reaches a peak, and certainly in the upcoming months, some businesses will be looking to delay their projects so that they won’t be completed until after New Year’s.

As a hiring manager it’s important to make sure you’re looking for the perfect resource now – and as time is of the essence, you should be looking to get ahead of your competition.

Remember, when it comes to ERP specialists, competition for niche expertise is at its peak. With the number of open roles also high, a skilled candidate doesn’t stay available in the market for long. In addition to that, long interview processes are something candidates are beginning to push back against, in the same way many are keen to avoid a return to the office. In a candidate-driven market (like what we’re currently seeing) it’s best act fast on hiring.

So, what can we take from this?

First – put your job specs together quickly (if you haven’t already) and be prepared to recruit. If you have difficulty knowing what you will need, my team and I all have extensive experience with ERP projects of all types, and we’d be happy to discuss the resources you’d need for a successful ERP system implementation.

Second – make sure your decision makers aren’t going on holiday immediately after you start the search. Missing out on a candidate because the interview was delayed is a very real possibility in today’s market, and I’m told it’s deeply frustrating.

Third – look at your interview process and see what can be done to tighten it up. If you have multiple rounds of interview, could the turnaround be quicker? Would it be possible to cut down the list of questions to do the same due diligence in fewer rounds of interview?

Lastly – and most importantly – come directly to a specialist recruiter. Every day you can save from your search makes it more likely that you, and not your competition, will get the candidate you’re looking for.

Let us help you– not your competitors byhiring the specialist ERP talent needed to make your ERP system project a success.
