I recently supported a client who had recruiting for an ERP consultant with an expertise in Oracle EBS. This was the first time that a company had come to me with a requirement in Oracle EBS but I had worked with this specific client before having placed a number of Oracle NetSuite experts. This meant that I had already built a good rapport with the Director that I was speaking with. He trusts my judgement. The company in question had an urgent need because a number of projects were slated to start all at the same time and they were light on resources, especially on the Oracle team.
The client and I had worked together before so the initial consultation, over the phone, went really well. The client was willing to compromise on fluency of German, if there was a level of understanding, as long as the Oracle E-business Suite was very good. They would also consider home office contracts. One of the main things that the client asked for was ‘clear communication skills’.
I sent 3 profiles to the client, across the spectrum of experience and language levels. The candidate that we placed (out of these 3) had 8 years of experience in both consulting and project management in Oracle EBS. It was also advantageous that he lived 20 minutes away from the offices and spoke German to a B2 level (high intermediate level).
The candidate made such a strong impression in his first months at the company, he has already been promoted from ERP Consultant to Senior Project Manager. Not only that but after his first year at the company, one of the directors is preparing for him to join the board of directors. His experience, and his personality has allowed to him to turn 3 failing projects into successful ones and he has quickly become an integral part of their team.
